Meet the Team
Lucy Bristow
is the Managing Director of Lucy Bristow Appointments. I have overall responsibility for the management of the organisation including staff, customers and budgets. I lead the company along with my Operations Director, Heather Froud, to plan and direct the company’s strategy and develop the corporate culture for the organisation.
I love to spend time windsurfing and sailing and running half marathons. I adore my beautiful children, sunny days, good movies like Shawshank Redemption, Leon and Zulu, friends and family, laughter, freshly mown grass, a good night’s sleep and hugs! My main pet hates are people who drive in the fast lane really slowly, Paris Hilton, waste, being late and bad customer service!
Most memorable placement: “Probably my first placement all those years ago. The client remains a loyal customer of ours after 23 years!”
Lucy’s favourite quote: “If at first you don’t succeed…then skydiving is probably NOT for you.”
Heather Froud
is our Operations Director and studied Art and Media at Leeds University. She’s been at the agency for four years and works closely with Lucy.
In her spare time Heather is a budding author and is writing a children’s book about “Cedrick the Dragon” based on stories she used to make up for her children when she was too tired to read. She’s a fan of sunshine, Lyme Regis in winter, naughty spirited horses and dogs, and most of all – laughter. Her major dislike is grumbling!
Most memorable placement: “A very nervous part-time mum returner went to a filing job for us with a major blue chip organisation. After six months of temping there she was offered the role as PA to the Managing Director!”
Heather’s mantra for the day: “It’s a funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it.”
Ben Lewis
is one of our permanent Recruitment Consultants for central Bristol and has been with LB for 18 months. Ben is concentrating particulary on senior level recruitment, working closely with Heather on a daily basis.
Ben is a football fanatic and a keen golfer but claims he’s “so bad at golf that people won’t play with me!”
A fan of sunny weather, BBQs, and anything summer related. Dislikes – Winter, slow walkers and people who brake at roundabouts.
Best thing about working at LB? Working with people that have a similar work ethic, loyal and professional clients who believe in the service that we offer.
Sophie O’Brien (currently on sabbatical)
Sophie is our Temporaries Consultant, currently travelling throughout Singapore and the Far East. She has been with the agency for almost three years. Her role is to manage the Temporaries Desk, placing registered candidates in short term assignments ranging from holiday or sickness cover to temp to perm vacancies.
Sophie relaxes at the weekend with a spot of fire poi, juggling and hula hooping – it’s true! She’s also a big fan of reiki and meditation, and has an irrational fear of cheese!
Most memorable placement: “I placed a candidate who had been temping for a couple of years, in a new two week temporary holiday cover role. The employer was so impressed with her fantastic work that they actually created a new permanent role to suit my candidate!”
Sophie’s mantra for the day: “You always regret the things you don’t do rather than the things you do.”
Gemma Smye
is our Permanent Recruitment Consultant for North Bristol, a graduate from Gloucestershire University. She’s worked with the agency for four years and her role is, in her words, “to find candidates the perfect job and clients the perfect candidate!”
An avid traveller and keep fit enthusiast Gemma’s only weakness is a major dislike of untidiness!
Her most memorable placement? “I placed a candidate who was absolutely hating her job and was dreading going in to work each day. Since we found her dream job, as an Assistant Park Manager, her life has changed and now she absolutely loves going to work!”
Gemma’s mantra for the day: “Think positively and positive things will happen!”
